Majestic Steel's leaders are passionate and enthusiastic people that are visible, available, and sincere with all employees.
The organization's executives and top managers are engaged in the organization and interact frequently with employees. They provide feedback, answer questions, and help brainstorm ideas with employees. They walk the halls and encourage spontaneous interaction, believing that any informal conversation with their staff might turn into a brainstorming session, spark an idea, or launch a new project. They also empower employees to take ownership of the organization's success and offer innovative workspaces with cutting-edge technology.
In 2010, specifically, leaders initiated a few new programs to enhance communication in an engaging way with employees. The organization held "Einstein meetings" where top executives were available to pose questions, gather feedback, and provide direction to employees. Leaders also played a central role in planning and executing several company-wide events. One of these events focused on communicating the organization's outcomes and its future direction in an engaging and memorable experience at the House of Blues. The event included a video parody of the ESPN/LeBron James "The Decision," where executives gave a year-end summary of company performance, highlighting each area's contribution to organizational success, and provided future direction.
Majestic Steel's leaders also show that they value employees in many unique ways. Each employee was given an iPad at last year's holiday party and management provided free training classes to help employees use their gifts for professional and personal use. In addition, leaders directly distribute rewards to employees and make recommendations and suggestions for associates who are deserving of recognition. They also provide a range of praise and recognition ranging from informal thank you's, fist-bumps, and high-fives to more formal awards like a company outing or event, an end-of-year gift, or a two (2) week paid sabbatical every five years.
